Her work easily falls in the naïve category, with its stylized simplistic forms, lack of perspective and palette of light and bright colors. The major subjects, angels and biblical figures, lead these works into the realm of visionary realism. Fowler’s art is best described as being somewhere between visionary and objective realism, although she has also produced several abstract pieces in mixed media.

The component of whimsy flows easily from her brush and Fowler takes full advantage of the brilliant range of colors possible in acrylics. Her paintings of animals take on such a humanized perspective that it causes the viewer to feel a connection with the animal’s personality. One can’t help but feel the joy she experiences while painting the piece. It’s like being on a journey yourself as you wander through the jungle of zebras toucans and “Generations” of giraffes to the undersea world of tropical fish and scuba diving angels, all the way back to biblical characters of the Old Testament such as “Daniel In The Lions Den”.

Although she began this wonderful creative outlet late in life, because of the fulfillment she has received, Rona desires to encourage others, no matter what age, to do the same.
